Frosh - WON (13-2) - Today's win puts Granada’s league record at 9-4 with an overall record of 19-5. The Granada Freshmen are currently leading the East Bay League going into their final game against Livermore High. The Matador’s defense was led by Jacob Payne who received the game win facing 21 batters giving up only 3 hits. Ryan Flayler and Alex Davis also came in closing out the game holding the Amador offense to only 2 runs. The Matador bats came alive early dominating the Don defense with 12 hits 2 doubles and 1 triple. Leading the Matador offense was Matt Richards and Vince Fernandez with Ryan Flayler who hit a triple that generated 3 runs. The Granada Freshmen close out their season Friday (5/21) against the cross town Livermore Cowboys at Livermore High.

The Matador offense was led by a Vince Fernandez solo homerun which extended the Matador’s lead to six runs. The Matador offense continued to punish the Cowboys with outstanding hitting from Miles Mastrobouni, Daniel Whitney, Alex Davis, and Matt Richards. The GHS Varsity Baseball Team cracked the Top 15 in the East Bay Baseball Poll - coming off their last two wins in EBAL, they are currently Ranked 9th (as of 5/10/10).

Frosh - WON (7-6) - The Granada Freshmen once again defeated the De LaSalle Spartans today (7-6). This win extends the Matador’s overall record to (17-3) with a league record of (7-2). The Matador defense today was lead by outstanding pitching from Anthony Olmo who went seven innings to hold the Spartan offense to six runs. The Matador offense was lead by Vince Fernandez (2H - 3B), Mile Mastrobouni (2H), Matt Richards and Kyle Campiotti both hit 2B. The Matador offense continued to attack the Spartan defense with an amazing display of situational baseball - 5 hit-n-runs and 2 sac bunts to produce seven runs. The Granada Freshmen are at home Monday May 10, 2010 against the cross town rival Cowboys - (game time 4:00pm).

The Matador offense continued to punish the Mustangs with outstanding hitting from Daniel Whitney (2RBIs), Vince Fernandez (2B), and Matt Richards (2B).

Frosh - defeated the Amador Dons at Amador High today (6-1). This loss was the Don’s first league loss and extended the Matador’s league record to (3-2) - overall record to (13-3). The Matador’s defense was lead by Anthony Olmo who pitched a complete game giving up 4 hits, while striking out 9 Amador batters. The Matador bats came alive dominating the Don defense with 12 hits for the game. Leading the Matador offense was Matt Richards and Craig Woolson both with three hits, Woolson had (2 RBIs). Vince Fernandez, Alex Davis hit doubles and had (2 RBIs) each. The Granada Freshmen are back in action next week at home hosting the Cowboys from Livermore High (Wednesday 28, 2010 start time is 4:00pm).

Frosh - WON (3-0) - The Granada Freshmen Matador’s continued their run at an EBAL title defeating the Foothill High Falcons at home. This win extends the Matador’s league record to (5-2) overall record to (15-3). The Matador’s pitchers, led by Sebastian Martinez, combined for a 6 hit shutout. Martinez came in to relieve Jacob Payne after Jordan Thrailkill was hit by a pitch throwing a four inning shutout against the Falcon offense. The Matador bats combined to have 8 hits, lead by a solo homerun by Vince Fernandez over the tennis courts. Miles Mastrobouni had 3 hits; Dan Whitney had 2 hits with Matt Richards and Sebastian Martinez each having an RBI. The Matador defense was flawless stopping Falcon rallies in both the 2nd and 6th innings. The Granada Freshmen are back in action Friday, 5/7/2010, at Monte Vista (start time is 4:00 pm).

The Granada Freshmen sent the Monte Vista Mustangs galloping home today with their first league loss. Today’s (13-9) win gives the Granada Freshmen an overall record at (12-2) with a league record of (2-1). The Granada Freshmen continue to dominate this season having generated 123 runs while giving up only 37 runs in 14 games. The Matador defense today was led by outstanding pitching from Anthony Olmo, Sebastian Martinez, Alex Davis and Jacob Payne. The Matador offense came alive early scoring four runs in the first inning off a Matt Richards triple. The Matador offense continued punishing the Mustangs with outstanding hitting from Miles Mastrobuoni, Vince Fernandez, Craig Woolson and Daniel Whitney. The Granada Freshmen are away this Friday traveling to San Ramon taking on the Wolves, Friday April 16, 2010 (game time 4:00pm).

Frosh - The Granada Freshmen defeated the De LaSalle Spartans at home today (6-0). The Matador’s defense was led by Anthony Olmo who pitched a complete game giving up only 4 hits, no walks, while striking out 14 Spartan batters. The Matador bats came alive today dominating the Spartan defense with 12 hits total for the game. Leading the Matador offense was Mastrobouni (triple), Campiotti (double), Olmo (double), and Fernandez (triple). The Granada Freshmen are back in action this weekend looking to bring home a championship in the Easter Classic at Dougherty Valley High School .
GHS vs Cal - 3/31/2010
Varsity - Lost their EBAL season opener to Cal 7-2; RBIs by Kirby and Carney.
JV - WON their 1st league vs Cal 5-3 in 9 innings! Highlights include good defensive play by Cody Minser and a key double hit by Dusty Simon. Downey pitched the 1st 6 innings allowing only 2 hits, and McWilliams closed up the last 3 innings for the win.
Frosh - Lost their first game this season to Cal 6-3. The Matador’s had to struggle with both poor field conditions and weather. The Matador defense allowed two defensive errors but held the Grizzlies with great pitching from Martinez and Davis . The Matador offense was led by Craig Woolson who had a home run. The Granada Freshmen return to the field at home to play the Spartans from De LaSalle - Thursday, April 1, 2010 (game time 4:00 pm).
GHS Frosh vs Castro Valley - 3/24/10
Frosh - The Granada Freshmen defeated Castro Valley High today (12-0). The Matador’s defense was led by Anthony Olmo who pitched a complete game giving up only 3 hits, 1 walk while striking out 8. The Matador bats continue to dominate and came alive in the second inning finishing with 12 hits total for the game. The Matador Offense was led by Anthony Olmo who took charge batting 1.000 with 3 hits including a double with 2 RBIs. Jordan Thrailkill followed hitting 1.000 with Jacob Lutz and Matt Richards both hitting .500. The Granada Freshmen concluded their pre-season undefeated, generating 67 runs while giving up only 8. The Granada Freshmen are on the road Wednesday March 31, 2010 against Cal High returning home to play De LaSalle Thursday April 1, 2010 (game time 4:00pm).

GHS Frosh vs James Logan - 3/20/10
Frosh - The Granada Freshmen defended their record beating the James Logan team 7-0 today. The Matador’s defense was lead by Ryan Flayler who pitched an outstanding game to shutdown the James Logan offense. Granada High was led offensively by Matt Richards who early in the game hit a triple with 3RBIs. After that the Granada offense exploded with successful execution at both the plate and with aggressive base running. In their first six games this season, the Matador freshmen offense has generated 55 runs while the defense has only given up 8 runs. The Granada Freshmen are back on the field Wednesday March 24, 2010 at home against Castro Valley High (game time 3:30pm).

JV Team Takes 1st Place in the Dougherty Valley Classic
The GHS JV Baseball Team took 1st place in the Dougherty Valley Classic over Spring Break. They led off with a decisive win over Las Lomas (10-0), followed by a win over Liberty (6-2), and defeated San Ramon Valley (6-2) in the Championship game.
The GHS Frosh Baseball Team also did well in the DV Classic. They placed 2nd in the Tournament beating Las Lomas and Liberty, before losing to SRV in the Championship game. (4-18-09)
GHS Varsity Scores a Win over Amador
According the Valley Times, the GHS Varsity Baseball win vs Amador "was all about execution". Led by pitcher Blake Bonde (who gave up just one hit thorugh 5 innings), the Matadors earned the win through excellent hitting by Kyle Kearney (3 for 4), Tim McGarvey, Scott Couglin, Garry Lenhardt, Greg Richards, and Brian Musselman. GHS Varsity Holds Its Own Against Top-Ranked East Bay Team
The GHS Varsity Baseball Team narrowly missed defeating a second, highly-ranked opponent in the first week of EBAL League play. They lost to visiting Monte Vista (2-1), but played an excellent game. Highlights included Daniel Carney pitching a two-hitter, and Garry Lenhardt hitting a solo home run in the second inning. (3-27-09)
GHS VARSITY BEATS DLS IN SEASON OPENER
The GHS Varsity Baseball season opened with an upset win over Nor Cal ranked DLS. Down by 2 in the bottom of the 7th, Greg Richards hit a 3-run double to the left field wall with bases loaded to win the game! (3-25-09)
