Students helping students!

The Special Education Department was working on a way to allow a student increase her ability to communicate.  To do this, a prototype of a sensor that responds to foot movement was being developed.  The sensor needed to be incorporated into the foot rest of a wheelchair.  A MTT (Machine Tool Technology) student, Austin Frost, was given a description of the sensor and how it needs to be mounted.  In addition to holding the sensor in place, the additional parts needed to be easily removed and reinstalled to allow for changes in the wheelchair to accommodate other needs.  Austin designed and machined the needed parts to mount to the sensor.  In the pictures above, Austin is connecting the sensor mounting parts to the wheelchair.
