GetSet is an extra-curricular program for Tri-Valley high school girls with interests in STEAM. Through field trips and networking events, GetSet is designed to encourage the exploration of STEAM careers and demonstrate the link between current classes and future careers. Interested students must attend one of the following mandatory orientations: Wednesday, September 12 OR Thursday, September 13 at lunch in room 108. The Counseling and Career Center is hosting Senior Information Night on Wednesday, September 26 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Seniors and parents are encouraged to attend to hear from the senior class Vice Principal, advisors as well as the Counseling and Career Center staff. Breakout sessions on community colleges and 4-year colleges will be presented simultaneously. Granada High School will be offering the PSAT on Wednesday, October 10. All sophomores have been automatically registered for the test. Freshmen and juniors who would like to take the test must register online at the webstore or in Student Services from September 4 - September 28. The fee is $20. Space is limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis for freshmen and juniors. Homeschooled students, who reside in Livermore, may register in Student Services (please bring a valid ID to register). Unfortunately we cannot accommodate students outside of Livermore. The boys golf team took first place in the Tracy Invitational Tournament Monday, April 23rd.  Nick McClendon took first place as an individual and John Takemura took second.  

This is the 3rd tournament win for the boys team this year.

On April 11th, Joe Michell K-8 hosted local and international students, families, and staff to celebrate their successful participation in a cultural exchange program between Livermore and Fulda, Germany. Among the attendees of the celebration were Livermore City Councilman Bob Carling and Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Superintendent of Schools Kelly Bowers, Ed.D.

In June 2017, six Joe Michell students, one Granada High School student, and three students from Amador Valley High School traveled to Germany to visit a school campus, tour the historic cities of Berlin and Heidelberg, and shadow German students in their daily life while living with a host family.

Credit recovery is offered to students needing to repeat courses that they have failed in English, social science, and math.  Offerings are limited and enrollment priority is given to sophomores and juniors.  Summer school will be held at Granada from 6/18-7/13 and registration forms with more detailed information are available in the Counseling and Career Center.  Registration forms must be completed and submitted to Granada, or the district office by May 12th. The Granada High School Counseling and Career Center will be hosting College Planning Night on Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the 300 hall. Sophomores, juniors and parents are encouraged to attend.

 

College Planning Night is an event in which families can attend two breakout sessions presented by the GHS counselors and local college admissions representatives. 

 

Breakout session topics will include: UC, CSU and California Community College admissions, OVERGRAD, SAT and ACTs and private and out-of-state college options.

All students taking an AP exam are required to attend one AP pre-administration meeting. Each meeting will be one hour long. Students may choose to attend any one of the following meetings:

  • Tuesday, April 17 during 5th period (you must have an open 5th period)
  • Tuesday, April 17 after school, beginning at 3:15 pm
  • Tuesday April 24 during 5th period (you must have an open 5th period)
  • Tuesday, April 24 after school, beginning at 3:15 pm

These meetings will be held in the Student Union. Please bring your student ID card and a #2 pencil with you. If you cannot attend any of these meetings, you must speak to Mrs. Watson in the Counseling and Career Center prior to these meetings.

To support and further the education of students in our community, the Board of Directors of the Hindu Community and Cultural Center have established $500 scholarships to be awarded to a senior of each LVJUSD high school.
